Development Boys

Within Wiltshire, Development Boys Cricket is run at

The process for selection into development cricket is that clubs are asked to nominate players for development trials every Autumn. The trials are used to identify players to be invited on to a 12 week winter performance programme for their development age group.

The Development winter programmes will be run by the county lead coach for that respective age group. This ensures a consistent voice for the whole of that age group. It also assists with movement of players between county cricket and the level below, known as Development Cricket. By the coach having ‘ownership’ of their age group it will help them to have knowledge of all players involved in the talent pathway from within their age group.

In terms of the summer match play programme all development age groups will play competitive fixtures against similar teams from other counties. There will also be intra county matchplay opportunities whereby development players can compete with county age group players.
