Two defeats for Wiltshire Women but we finish 3rd in T20 group and look ahead to Finals Day on Sunday 8th May

Wiltshire Women finished their round robin fixtures in their ECB T20 group on bank holiday Monday. Unfortunately, two defeats against Devon but there's still an opportunity to win the group as we look ahead to finals day on Sunday 8th May.

Match One v Devon

Wiltshire batted first in the opening match of the day against Devon on Monday 2nd May. For Wiltshire, the innings was led by a strong partnership between Isla Thomson (30) and Lauren Shrubsole (21). This helped Wiltshire reach a total of 90-7 from their 20 overs.

In reply, Devon were led by contributions of 30 from Stephanie Hutchins and 25 from Georgia Read. For Wiltshire, Emily Smith returned figures of 2-10 from her 4 overs but in the end Devon reached their target for the loss of 4 wickets with 2 overs to spare.

Match Two v Devon

The second match of the day followed a similar pattern. Wiltshire again batted first and thanks to contributions of 22 from Emily Bogg and 25 from Lauren Shrubsole reached a total of 82-7 from 20 overs.

In reply, Devon were made to work hard to reach their target as Wiltshire took 7 wickets and managed to take it to the end of the 19th over before the target was reached. There were two wickets each for Lauren Shrubsole and Emily Otton.

Finals Day

The competition now moves on to finals day, which will take place at Heathcoat CC on Sunday 8th May. The format of finals day will look as follows:

  • 10.30am – Semi Final 1: Devon v Dorset
  • 13.30pm – Semi Final 2: Cornwall v Wiltshire
  • 16.30pm – Final: Winner SF1 vs Winner SF2
