Wiltshire CCC Men's 1st XI's NCCA T20 campaign ends at Super 12s stage

Wiltshire CCC v Buckinghamshire CCC - NCCA T20 Finals

Venue : Exeter CC

Sunday 9th August 2026

Both teams arrived at Exeter CC full of expectation. The winners of this game would face Devon CC in the afternoon to discover who would progress to the NCCA National Finals Day at Wormsley.

The toss was won by Wiltshire who decided to bat in the hope of giving Buckinghamshire a challenging target to chase.  Sadly, everything went wrong for Wiltshire in the first two overs.  Four talented young batters, three of whom had NCCA centuries to their names this season, all perished without scoring 1 for 4 !!! (and the one was a wide!) The opening bowlers who had done the damage were MG Pardoe 2 for 25 and Archie Dodds 2 for 5. At this point Ed Young 22 and Jack Mynott 33 started a rescue operation which was later added to by Stan Brown 22 . The score had risen to 96 for 7 with  overs to go, but the final wickets fell with Teddy Fleming taking 3 for 10 and Wiltshire were all out for 107 with 9 balls unused.

The Buckinghamshire reply began confidently, but they didn’t have it all their own way.  Ryan Friend led the charge with 33, sharing the top score of the game with Wiltshire’s Jack Mynott, Opener BGS Dodds began with an aggressive 19, but both fell to Archie Pascoe, 2 for 21. Dodds opening partner Rhys Nicholas fell to an excellent boundary catch by the safe hands of Jack Mynott from Stan Brown’s bowling . Pardoe added 18 but was caught behind by debutant wicket-keeper Zaman Shafi from the bowling of Jack Mynott, one of three catches for Zaman.  As Buckinghamshire got ever closer to their target Olli Brown had given them a shock when he ran out JM Lincoln with some excellent fielding as they scrambled for a second run amid some confusion.  Charan Chahal, 2 for 13, added to their worries when he removed Charlie Oldershaw and Teddy Fleming with the score rising to 101, but with 7 wickets down.  However, Bertie Foreman,15, held firm and with his captain CPW Haddow eased Buckinghamshire to their total as they hit the target of 108 with 28 balls to spare.

What began as a dream turned into a nightmare for Wiltshire, but they didn’t go down without a fight. There is a wealth of talent within this squad as they have shown in reaching the quarter finals of both the 50 over and T20 competitions. Now they have to pick themselves up ready for the challenge of two more Championship 3 day matches  beginning with Berkshire CCC at Henley CC on 16/17/18 August with the final match at South Wilts CC against Devon on 23/24/25 August.
