Wiltshire Cricket County Age Group - Boys & Girls (U13+) Talent Pathway - Registrations for Trials now open!
Wiltshire Cricket is pleased to confirm that information has been sent to cricket clubs regarding GIRLS AND BOYS COUNTY AGE GROUP (Under 13 +) Talent Pathway trials. These trials will be for selection on to 2025-2026 programmes.
IMPORTANT - Our process for nominating players from clubs has now changed. Clubs should ensure that they read the nomination and trials letter that has been emailed to them on 11th July 2025, and then forward this onto the parents / guardians of their nominated players. Parents and guardians will then be responsible for registering their son / daughter for a trial.
CHANGES TO TALENT PATHWAY FOR 2025-2025 - READ MORE: Ahead of this winter, Wiltshire Cricket has made a number of changes to its Talent Pathway including the introduction of the Early Engagement Programme and some changes to County Age Group Cricket
CLUBS ARE ASKED NOT TO COMPLETE THE REGISTRATION FORM ON BEHALF OF THE PLAYER, THIS SHOULD BE DONE BY THE PARENT DIRECTLY
Quoting the attached Nomination and Trials letter:
IMPORTANT – Following the changes we made to our trial registration process two years ago we are attempting to keep the process as similar as possible for 2025-2026.
Rather than clubs nominating players to Wiltshire Cricket, clubs are required to share the registration link provided with the players that they would like to be considered in the trial process. This is not an open link for anyone to register and it must remain with those that clubs would like to put forward for talent pathway cricket consideration.
The reason for clubs sharing the registration link with parents/guardians is because we would like parents/guardians of the players who they believe warrant a trial to make the decision themselves as to whether they wish for their child to attend a trial. As part of this registration, parents/guardians will provide their accurate contact information and will have the option to agree to receive communications from Wiltshire Cricket.
As part of the decision over whether to register, parents/guardians will also be able to read our Talent Identification booklet. With that in mind, we also request that club share this document with parents / guardians.
MCC Foundation Hubs:
In addition to our Talent Pathway structure outlined above, Wiltshire Cricket will also be running the MCC Foundation Hubs for the second year in 2025-2026, and we are delighted that our hubs will offer the following numbers of places:
- Under 13s Boys – For up to 48 boys
- Under 14s Girls – For up to 24 girls
- Under 15s Boys – For up to 48 boys
- Under 17s Girls – For up to 24 girls
The MCC Cricket Hubs provide free to access training and matchplay for state-educated children, which will see invited players receive 10 weeks of indoor training followed by matches in the summer.
We are delighted to continue and grow our MCC Hub programmes. The hubs create an opportunity for state educated players who do not achieve selection for one of Wiltshire Cricket’s Talent Pathway programmes to receive additional, and free, training and playing opportunities.
Trial Timeframes
PLEASE NOTE THE COUNTY AGE GROUP TRIALS ARE FOR PLAYERS WHO WILL BE IN UNDER 13S AND ABOVE IN 2026 (for all younger players, please refer to the Early Engagement Phase registration process)
- Registration – Parents need to register by Sunday 3rd August 2025.
- Trial Notification – The exact details of trials (date/time/venue) will be shared to trial registrants by Wiltshire Cricket during w/c 11th August 2025
- Outdoor Trials – We are looking to operate our County Age Group trials between Saturday 6th and Sunday 21st September 2025.
- Trial Outcomes – The outcome of trials will be communicated to parents by Friday 17th October 2025. This will include details of whether each child has been selected for a county age group programme, an MCC Foundation Hub programme, or has been unsuccessful with selection on this occasion.
Trials format – Due to the time of year that the trials will be running they will be predominantly net-based, and we are working towards collecting information all year round to help support the coaches in their decision-making. We understand that anyone can have a bad day, and that this could fall on the day of the trials, so coaches will try to make an informed decision by pulling from different sources.
